The Ask
Roku Gin came to us with one simple prompt: “What ideas do you have?”
The only guardrails? The brand is deeply connected to the natural world, intentional, and rooted in Japanese culture and craftsmanship. Everything else was up to us; the perfect canvas to dream big.
The Project
We turned a vague prompt into a full sensory journey. Inspired by shun, the Japanese moment when botanicals reach peak perfection, we captured the electrical signals of each botanical in Roku Gin. Then, teaming up with world-renowned composer Aska Matsumiya, we transformed those signals into two songs: one celebrating spring’s sakura blossoms, and one carrying you through all four seasons.
The idea was simple: make each sip an experience you could hear, not just taste. From concept to final collaboration, I helped shape the vision, guide the creative decisions, and made sure every note, visual, and moment reflected the craft, culture, and joy of Roku Gin.
Our case study film breaks down each step of capturing our plant melodies and turning them into music.
We partnered with Aska Matsumiya to create two tracks celebrating the botanicals at their seasonal peak in Japan.
For the album artwork, I created a moody design that highlights the botanicals while balancing the brand’s identity with the composer’s aesthetic.
These musical pieces accompanied by artful projections of the botanicals, set the scene for Roku tasting events in major global cities.
We also dropped the project on social, sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes content.
